where can i learn to breakdance around dallas?

July 15th, 2010

i want to learn how to break dance, like Salah, or deydey, or M.J , even bboy junior, im a guy 16 years old i wanna know how to do the robot and spin on head and stuff like that

Hey there, future bboy, popper or locker!
Check bboy.org>hook up section!
or bboyworld.com for more training spots!
and we don’t say breakdance, we call it bboying
"breakdance or breakdancing" is a mainstream term you know!!
also ur mixing up dance styles, e.g. the robot belongs to popping, so you may wanna learn some dance theory first before you decide on which dance style you wanna do

International Breakdance Event 2004

July 11th, 2010

Wikipedia: “Breakdance, breaking, b-boying or b-girling is a street dance style that evolved as part of the hip hop movement among African American and Puerto Rican youths in the South Bronx of New York City during the early 1970s. It is normally danced to pop, funk or hip hop music, often remixed to prolong the breaks, and is a well-known hip hop dance style. A breakdancer, breaker, b-boy or b-girl refers to a person who practices breakdancing.

Cartoon of a breakdancer displaying a basic freeze, next to a stereotypical boombox.

Since its inception, breakdancing has provided a youth culture constructive alternative to violent urban street gangs. Today, breakdancing culture is a remarkable discipline somewhere in-between those of dancers and athletes. Since acceptance and involvement centers on dance skills, breakdancing culture is usually free of the common race, gender and age boundaries of a subculture and has been accepted worldwide.”
