How did YOU learn to breakdance? :)?

March 18th, 2010 | by admin |

I was looking through some breakdancing videos one day and this question popped into my head. For all you breakdancers out there.. how’d you learn how to breakdance?

some body taught me the "six step" and some "top rock" and from that point i taught myself a lot of moves i saw. then to get the harder stuff i took lessons from one of the best bboys in Michigan.

its important to learn from a teacher instead of a video. its also important to do it on your own and create your own style.

I didn’t learn, but I am practicing! LOL, and the way I practice is by copying Hong 10 videos in front of a mirror!

Influenced by pop culture, media, celebrities, peers – that’s what led into breakdancing.

You’d probably get someone to teach you or copy other people.

At my studio there was an all day workshop that included a break class, so I learned some basics like a six step, a short top rock, a cross step, and a knee drop from a master and I’m still trying to learn other moves from what I see around me.

At first I was caught up in the fad within my school, around 6 years ago. Once it started dying out I was left with all the real bboys and they started teaching me and telling me mistakes they made. They invited me to jams (events, competitions) and from there I was inspired.
